Richard Burnett

Chairman

Richard is Chairman of Road to Logistics and Chief Executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA).

Richard has a long career history in transport & logistics, having previously been Managing Director of Samworth Brothers and hold various roles at Wincanton.

RHA figures suggest the driver shortage stands at around 45,000 and the organisation works tirelessly to lobby government and industry organisations to tackle the issue.

Bob Harbey

Co-Founder

Bob is co-founder of Road to Logistics and Executive Director of Microlise, the market leading telematics and transport management solutions company.

Bob is a qualified HGV driver, having passed his test in 2016. He has worked at Microlise, where he is a major shareholder, for over 30 years.

With the driver shortage biting hard in 2015, Bob was keen to find ways to help solve the problem and put something back into the industry. Road to Logistics was born following discussions with Richard Burnett, Chief Executive of the Road Haulage Association, who shared this aim.

Jim French MBE

Managing Director

Jim has working in logistics since 1969, when he joined British Road Services as a Traffic Office Trainee. He went on to serve BRS, NYK ans PD Ports as Operations Director.

He was named Motor Transport – Transport Manager of the Year 1988 and is a former Chairman of the Road Haulage Association as well as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Jim was awarded an MBE in 2018 for services to young people in Transport and appointed Co-Chair of the Trailblazer Group for Transport and Logistics January 2020.

Jim was Appointed Managing Director of Road to Logistics September 2020.

Jennifer Swain

Head of Talent and Operations

Jennifer has worked in logistics for 20 years, specialising in talent attraction.

She is particularly passionate about improving Diversity and Inclusion within the industry, and works hard to demonstrate that logistics is relevant to a plethora of people, regardless of gender, race, disability or background.

Jennifer joined Road to Logistics as she recognised an opportunity to use her experience for the benefit of the whole industry and join a team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about creating pathways to work for more marginalised individuals, whilst having a real impact on the talent shortage in logistics.

Susan Russell

HR & Operations Administrator

Susan has over 15 years experience in Careers Consultancy, Student Support and Recruitment in both the Higher Education and the private sectors.

She has worked with large universities, colleges and multinational organisations across in the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Susan is passionate about empowering individuals and organisations to maximise their potential.
